Photo and Video Tribute

Born August 15, 1928. She entered into eternal rest July 13, 2013. Joan was born in VanBuren, Maine as Joan Cecile LaPointe and met her husband, Joseph, after World War II in Lawrence, Massachusetts. They married on September 19, 1948. After the birth of their third son, they moved the family from Massachusetts to Mesa, Arizona where the family continued to grow with an additional three sons.

While living in Mesa, Joan and her family became parishioners of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and remained faithful member of the parish for over fifty years. Joan worked as a teller at the Valley National Bank located in downtown Mesa for a period of time and then focused on raising her younger three sons. Joan also became very active in the Arizona Right to Life movement. A champion of the unborn, she even served as president of the organization when asked to do so.

Joan was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed the outdoor adventures of camping and fishing with her family. She particularly enjoyed the special worldwide travel with her husband that took her to such places as Spain, Jamaica, and Alaska. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting when she had the time, as well as the daily newspaper jumble puzzle, and bingo games with her new friends at the assisted living facility where she resided for the past three years.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Joseph, and is survived by her sons, Robert, Dennis, Ron, Bill, Jim and Rick, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, (with one on the way), as well as three siblings.

Joan’s faith and positive spirit will be missed by her loving family and many friends and her friendship will continue to be felt for years to come. “We love you truly!”
